FEBRUARY

WILSON SECTIONAL, February 3-5.  The Greenville game on Saturday February 4 is canceled.

All of February is Junior Fund Month.  Unless noted otherwise, all games will be run as Junior Fund pair games.  These games award medium-high black points (70% sectional rating for those that understand its meaning).

News for 2011

Dear Greenville Bridge Community,

As you are probably aware, the directors have decided to raise the price of all games by $1 starting January 1, 2012.  Here is what we will do with each extra dollar we collect:

  • 25% will go toward refreshments.  Yes, this means no more collection boxes for refreshments.  Hooray!  Collecting money each month for refreshments got to be a little burdensome for both the players and the directors.
  • 25% will go to the senior center as a donation.  In 2010 and years prior, we were able to run charity games essentially every week.  This simultaneously gave players a shot at higher masterpoint awards and generated money for the Senior Center.  In 2011, ACBL restricted the number of charity games to 1 per month.  This severely curtailed our donations to the senior center.  Although the Senior Center in no way demands or expects payments, we want to support the Senior center financially.  We are truly fortunate to have such a nice playing facility.
  • 50% will go toward bridge supplies and bridge wants.  We will definitely keep an ample supply of fresh playing cards.  There are a variety of things that the bridge players and directors have been eyeing for a while now.  The top two are Bridge Mates (scoring machines) and a Dealing machine.

As managers of the sanctioned Greenville games, we very much appreciate our players.  This decision was not made lightly and we hope this decision does not place any significant stress on any player’s pocketbook.

Wishing Everyone a Happy 2012,

Carole, Chris, Faye, Pal
